Speaking to the media, the Assembly Member for the Fiave Electoral Area, Hon. Charles Legbedze, said he had already reported the situation to the Assembly Engineer. According to him, they plan to meet with the Ho Municipal Chief Executive to discuss immediate solutions to the dangerous and life-threatening condition of the bridge.

Hon. Legbedze cautioned drivers and pedestrians to use the bridge with extreme care. As a temporary measure, he said a caution tape would be placed around the area to alert road users of the danger.

He further noted that a similar issue exists at Adzima Korfe, also known as Alale Community, where a damaged bridge has yet to receive attention despite his earlier appeals to stakeholders. Hon. Legbedze urged authorities and development partners to intervene quickly before the situation worsens.

He added that Assembly Members currently have no dedicated funds for developmental projects and therefore called on community members, NGOs, and other stakeholders to support initiatives that address such infrastructural challenges.

The head of the Somey Down community, Mr. Doh, also addressed the media, outlining some of the underlying causes of the collapse. He explained that certain residents had constructed buildings in waterlogged areas, diverting natural waterways and leading to flooding that weakened the bridge.

Mr. Doh appealed to community members to work together to resolve these issues and prevent further disasters. He also called on relevant authorities and stakeholders to step in and assist the community in restoring the damaged bridge.
