Six Arrested For Ritual Murder, other bodies exhumed at Mafi-Adidome
The Volta Regional Police Command has arrested Six (6) suspects, a female and five males at Blorkofe and Awakpedome in the central Tongu District. In connection with the murder of Nelson Anyene, a 25 years old meson who came to stay with the wife at Mafi Adidome after he left his hometown Wusuta in the south Dayi District on December 4, 2024.
On June 26, 2025, intensive covert investigation coupled with the police civil cooperation led to the arrest of three (3) suspects: Augustina Fiawoyife, aged 21, unemployed; Wisdom Hedidor, aged 31, herbalist and Courage Dedzo, known as Dzidefo, aged 31, Kente weaver at Mafi Adidome.
Further Police investigations have led to the arrest of three additional suspects: Gblor Noah, known as Ekpedzi, aged 42, a fetish priest; Yohannes Gblor, aged 27, a security Guard; and John Gblor, aged 40, a lotto writer at Mafi Awakpedome. Preliminary police investigation disclosed that on December 4, 2024, at about 7:00 pm, the day of the incident, suspect Augustina Fiawoyife, a girlfriend of Wisdom Hedidor, was tasked by the boyfriend to lure the deceased, Nelson Anyena, to a location so that they could get him. On the same day, about 8:00 pm, Augustina Fiawoyife lured the deceased to a secluded location through a phone call under the pretence of having a monous discussion with him.
Unknown to him, he was attacked and strangled to death by Wisdom Hedidor and Courage Bedzo, also known as Dzidefo.
After the act, Wisdom Hedidor and Courage Bedzo called the suspect Gblor Noah, also known as Ekpedzi, the fetish priest who had earlier approached them to get him a dead body for a ransom, and they had succeeded in getting him his request. Noah Gblor and his two brothers, Yohannes Gblor and John Gblor, met wisdom and courage and made payment of seven thousand Ghana cedi (7000.00,) which they charged and took after they took the body to the shrine at Blorkofe.
On July 3, 2025 the Police obtained exhumation order from the Ho magistrate court one (1) to exhumed the body of Nelson Anyena as part of the police investigation on July 7, 2025 the police Detective made up of crime scene experts led by the regional crime officer, Supt/Mr Omari Michael Boakye and environmental health officers from Ho municipality executed the exhumation order and retrieved the body of Nelson Anyena which was buried under a shrine that belongs to Noah Gblor, the fertish priest.
The exercise led to the discovery of two more bodies buried at the same shrine after the alleged ritual business.
The suspected body remains of Nelson and an extra two (2) unknown bodies were conveyed to the police Hospital mortuary in Accra for preservation, awaiting autopsy and DNA profiling.
However, the six suspects are remanded into prison and police custody respectively to reappear on August 8, 2025. The investigation continues.
The Regional Police Command duly appreciates the support of the public in uncovering the heinous crime.
The command also entreats the family and close associates to remain calm as they pursue justice.
