Three Armed Robbers Jailed by Ho Circuit Court
The Ho Circuit Court has sentenced three armed robbers to a total of 19 years in prison for attacking and robbing a 21-year-old man of his iPhone 6s at Ho Central Market.
The Ho Circuit Court, presided over by His Honor Osman Abdul Hakeem, has convicted and sentenced three armed robbers to a total of 19 years in prison.
The convicts, Mercy Sokpe (22), Atsu Kamasa (25), and Godfred Dzidonu (19), were found guilty of conspiring to rob Elijah Togbedzi, 21, of his iPhone 6s, valued at 700 Ghana cedis, near the Ho Central Market on May 4, 2025, around 4:30 p.m.
According to the prosecution, Mercy Sokpe initially approached the victim, requesting to take a selfie with his phone. When the complainant agreed, Sokpe discreetly signaled her two accomplices, who then attacked Togbedzi with a pair of scissors before fleeing with the stolen phone.
Following the incident, police investigators managed to track down and arrest Sokpe and Kamasa from their hideout.
On May 9, 2025, the three were arraigned before the Ho Circuit Court on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery. In addition, Atsu Kamasa and Godfred Dzidonu each received an additional five-year sentence for robbery, bringing the total sentence to 19 years.
